She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, a Marvel Studios-produced series set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), starring Orphan Black lead Tatiana Maslany as Bruce Banner's cousin Jennifer Walters, will premiere on Thursday, August 18, 2022, with the remaining episodes of the nine-episode season scheduled to be released weekly until October 13.

In all countries and territories where the service operates, including Canada, She-Hulk will be available exclusively on Disney+, the streaming service that is already home to several other MCU series including WandaVision, Loki, and Ms. Marvel. (Marvel has, of course, been wholly owned by The Walt Disney Company since December 2009.)

A subscription to Disney+ is available in Canada for $11.99 per month, or $119.99 per year when billed annually (all prices current as of August 2022, in Canadian dollars before applicable sales taxes).

Will there be a way to watch She-Hulk without Disney+?

If there is, it probably won't be for a long while, at least in terms of means authorized by Disney / Marvel.

Other Disney Plus original series from Marvel Studios have not yet been released officially on any other platform – including digital sales retailers like the Apple TV / iTunes Store, or on physical media like DVDs. While we've occasionally come across releases resembling official DVDs on some online retailers, they are invariably sold by "marketplace" partners, with no external indication they're legitimate.

We imagine that some of these newer series should eventually become available for sale. But it's not clear when that will be. So for now, the only way to watch the new She-Hulk series will be through Disney+.

There was an Incredible Hulk movie in 2008, right? Where can I watch that?

Yep, and at the risk of revealing some minor spoilers, some backstory from the 2008 Marvel Studios film The Incredible Hulk becomes relevant starting with the second episode of She-Hulk. That movie starred Edward Norton in the title role, alongside (among others) a villain known as The Abomination, played by Tim Roth. (The character of Bruce Banner / Hulk was, of course, recast with Mark Ruffalo starting with the 2012 release Marvel's The Avengers.)

However, at present, the 2008 Incredible Hulk film is not available on Disney+ in Canada. That's because, even though it was a Marvel Studios production, Universal Studios had previously bought the film rights to the Hulk character from Marvel, originally leading to the 2003 Ang Lee film Hulk. As part of a subsequent renegotiated deal (a few years before Disney bought Marvel outright), Universal distributed the 2008 movie, and has since retained first right of refusal on the distribution of any potential future theatrical film where Hulk is the main character.

In short, this means that Universal can – and does – sell the streaming rights to its Hulk films independently of Disney. Although The Incredible Hulk has reportedly shown up on Disney+ in some countries, this has not included Canada.

As of this writing in late August 2022, Canadian streaming rights are shared by Netflix and Bell Media. Thus, it is currently possible to stream The Incredible Hulk on either Netflix (which starts at $9.99 per month), Crave (also starts at $9.99 per month), or Starz (available for $5.99 per month as an add-on channel on both Prime Video and the Apple TV app). Like many other older films of this type, the streaming outlets for this movie may change from time to time, and occasionally multiple times a year.

The movie is also available to rent or purchase through digital retailers including the Apple TV / iTunes Store and the Prime Video Store, starting at around $4.99 to rent.
