Only Murders in the Building (which we'll abbreviate for brevity as OMITB) is an American mystery-comedy series co-created by Steve Martin, who also stars in the series alongside Martin Short and Selena Gomez. The series debuted on Hulu in the United States on August 31, 2021, and has already been renewed for a second season which premiered on June 28, 2022.

In Canada and several other countries where Hulu is not available, the series is available on Disney+ as part of the Star mature programming hub, where it debuted the same day as its U.S. release. The first season is now available in full, and it appears that season 2 episodes will be released weekly on Tuesdays, simultaneously with Hulu, until August 23, 2022.

As of this writing in mid-2022, a subscription to the Disney+ streaming service costs $11.99 per month, or $119.99 per year (when billed annually), in Canada (both prices are before applicable sales taxes). The Star hub is included as part of Disney+ for all Canadian subscribers at no extra charge.

Like a growing number of series commissioned (ordered) by Hulu, which became a subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company in 2019, OMITB is produced by a Disney-owned studio, in this case 20th Television. As part of the launch plans for the Star hub announced in late 2020 and early 2021, the company said that Disney+ / Star would henceforth carry most new Disney-produced Hulu series internationally, and specifically named Only Murders... as one such series that would be released on Star in Canada and elsewhere.

And while we don't know too much about Disney's future plans, to date all Disney+ / Star original series have remained exclusive to the service in the countries it operates in. Thus it is very unlikely that OMITB will be available on another TV channel or streaming service in Canada for many years, if ever.

At best, if you don't want to pay for a Disney+ subscription, you may have the option in the future to buy the series digitally via the Apple TV / iTunes Store or the Google Play Store. However, as of this writing, Only Murders in the Building is not available for purchase on either of these services, and at this point we don't know when they might become available there.

So for the time being, the only authorized way for Canadians to be able to watch Only Murders in the Building is on Disney+.
