What's new on Canadian streaming & TV in April 2022?

Hi everyone. It's still the first week of April, which is still as good as time as any to send out our monthly summary of notable new programming coming to streaming services and TV channels in Canada. This also serves as the April 4, 2022, edition (#62) of our weekly newsletter, This Week in WCIW.

We regret any inconvenience caused by the delay sending out this month's guide. As you may have seen in an earlier post, the last couple of weeks of March were consumed by a few unexpected events. All is back to normal for now, and we're planning to get back on schedule with our regular weekly newsletter – including a few Mailbag questions from the past few weeks – next Monday.

The usual reminders: This is not intended as a complete list, but where practical we will provide links to fuller information. While we do mention a few reality and documentary shows and the like, our main focus is on notable scripted programming.

Prices are listed by WCIW for convenience, and are subject to change by the providers. Listed prices do not include any applicable sales taxes, which vary by province. The web version of this post may be updated occasionally during the month, though we cannot commit to updating everything that might be added or changed.

Netflix

Netflix costs between $9.99 and $20.99 per month in Canada, depending on the number of streams and picture quality you need.

Netflix Canada posts its monthly listings on social media, including Twitter and YouTube. Where necessary, we've cross-referenced against other sources.

Because of the sheer amount of content Netflix releases each month, we've typically more judicious with the number of items listed compared to other services, so we encourage you to consult the full lists if there's a program you're waiting on.

New programs are normally released at 3:00 a.m. ET (midnight PT) on the date indicated, unless otherwise noted.

Disney+

Disney+ currently costs $11.99 per month, or $119.99 per year, in Canada. Star, its general entertainment hub (with offerings similar but not identical to Hulu in the U.S.), is included at no extra charge in the Canadian service.

Disney+ sends its Canadian monthly listings to media outlets on its mailing list. Despite our efforts, we are not yet getting the Canadian listings, so we have to collate information from outside posts. New programs are normally released at 3:00 a.m. ET (midnight PT) on the date indicated, unless otherwise noted.

Bell Media's Crave costs between $9.99 and $19.99 per month via direct subscription, depending on the number of streams, device support, and picture quality you need. The price may vary when subscribing through a TV provider.

Starz, which is also operated in Canada by Bell Media, is available as a $5.99 per month add-on to Crave's direct subscriptions, and is also available separately through Prime Video Channels, Apple TV Channels, and TV providers.

New programs are normally released at midnight ET on the date indicated (equivalent to 9:00 p.m. PT on the previous date), though some (including HBO Max programs) may be released at 3:00 a.m. ET, and others (including mainline HBO programs) are released simultaneously with their linear premieres at the indicated times.
