Where can I watch "Obi-Wan Kenobi" in Canada?

Obi-Wan Kenobi, a six-part miniseries focused on the life of the Star Wars character between the events of Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, starring Ewan McGregor in the title role he also played in the saga's prequel trilogy, is scheduled to premiere on Friday, May 27, 2022, with a two-episode premiere, add additional episodes released weekly on Wednesdays from June 1 to 22.

In Canada, and in all other countries and territories where the service is available, Obi-Wan Kenobi will be available exclusively on Disney+, the flagship streaming service of The Walt Disney Company, which has owned the Star Wars franchise since its purchase of Lucasfilm in 2012.

A subscription to Disney+ is available in Canada for $11.99 per month, or $119.99 per year when billed annually (all prices current as of May 2022, in Canadian dollars before applicable sales taxes).

Will there be a way to watch Obi-Wan Kenobi without Disney+?

If there is, it won't be for a long while, at least in terms of legitimate means.

Other Disney Plus original series from the Star Wars franchise have not yet been released officially on any other platform – including digital sales retailers like the Apple TV / iTunes Store, or on physical media like DVDs.

Even though it is sometimes possible to find DVD sets that purport to be copies of other Disney+ series like The Mandalorian through online retailers, these are always sold by "marketplace" partners, never by the host retailers directly. And browsing through some of these listings, you may notice inconsistencies like the Warner Bros. logo (WB distributed some Star Wars spin-off series prior to the sale of Lucasfilm to Disney, but has not been involved in any subsequent productions).

We imagine that some of these newer series should eventually become available for sale. But it's not clear when that will be. So for now, the only way to watch the new Obi-Wan Kenobi series will be through Disney+.
