Where can I watch "Mayans M.C." in Canada?

Mayans M.C., a drama series created by Kurt Sutter and Elgin James and starring J.D. Pardo, about another motorcycle club in the Sons of Anarchy universe, premiered on the FX cable channel in the United States, and its counterpart in Canada, on September 4, 2018. The series has so far aired three full seasons, with a fourth season beginning on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 with a two-episode premiere.

In Canada, new episodes of this fourth season will premiere Tuesday nights at 10:00 p.m. Eastern time on the Canadian version of FX, from April 19 until June 14.

If you do not have a cable package that includes FX, you can now access new episodes on a next-day basis, as well as all past seasons of Mayans M.C., through Citytv+, an over-the-top streaming package offered by Rogers Communications (which operates the Citytv broadcast network, as well as the Canadian FX and FXX channels under licence from FX Networks).

As of this writing in April 2022, Citytv+ (pronounced "City TV Plus") is only available as an add-on "channel" on Amazon's Prime Video platform. This means that to subscribe to Citytv+, you must subscribe to Amazon Prime, which costs $9.99 per month or $99.00 per year in Canada, and pay an additional $4.99 per month to subscribe to Citytv+ itself; however, a 30-day free trial is available to both services for first-time subscribers in most parts of Canada. (All prices in this article are before applicable sales taxes.)

Note that you may see advertising during these programs, as Citytv+ is not marketed as a commercial-free service (even though Prime Video itself is).

I see Mayans MC is available on Disney+. Will I be able to watch the new season there?

The first three seasons of Mayans M.C. are indeed available in Canada on Disney+, as are past seasons of many other FX series like parent series SOA, Atlanta, and even new streaming-only series produced by FX like Reservation Dogs.

FX Networks has been a subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company since its acquisition of the channel's previous parent company in 2019. Disney began adding FX programming to its Disney+ streaming service in markets outside the U.S. in 2021, as we've explained in other posts.

However, at this point, new seasons of series airing on the FX and FXX channels themselves are not usually made available on Disney+ until several months after release, and at this point we can't provide a good estimate for this availability, except that it will be sometime after the current season finishes airing in June 2022.

While we don't know the exact terms of the current contracts between Disney and Rogers, we imagine that the Canadian versions of these cable channels are profitable enough that Rogers can still pay for first-run exclusivity for new seasons of these series, at least for a few months.

As of this writing, Disney+ is available in Canada as an ad-free service for $11.99 per month, or $119.99 per year when billed annually, before applicable taxes.
